I used a real life footage I shot to use as a background. But first, I needed to edit the colors to warmer yellowish tones so that it could feel more like summer time.

I then added my character, which I filled with only white so that it could be contrasted from the busy background better.

For the first part of the video, I removed the colors from the background and turned them into grey. It shows the gloomy thoughts the protagonist has.

Additionally, I scribbled behind the character with black lines to symbolize the chaotic and messy state of her mind.

I also used a VHS Overlay on top of the animation that I only removed in the last few seconds of the clip. This Overlay has been added to convey that the girl has been in a "Watcher" point-of-view to her life the entire time till she made a conscious decision to appreciate her surroundings. At that moment, she regains control over herself and feels part of the environement she is in.
